Seachem Reef Advantage Calcium™

Seachem Reef Advantage Calcium™

Reef Advantage Calcium™ is a non-caustic (pH 8.3–8.6) optimized blend of ionic calcium designed to restore and maintain calcium to levels found in natural seawater. Calcium and carbonates are essential to all coral growth. If either becomes deficient, coral growth will cease, followed by a rapid decline in coral health. To prevent this you must provide calcium(Reef Advantage Calcium™) and carbonates (Reef Builder™ or Reef Carbonate™).

Reef Advantage Calcium™ also includes magnesium and strontium in amounts proportionate to typical utilization ratios (100:5:0.1, Ca:Mg:Sr). This allows one to maintain these two important elements while maintaining calcium. Unlike limewater (kalkwasser), Reef Advantage Calcium™ does not have a caustic pH and will not deplete magnesium. Used as directed, it will not deplete alkalinity.

Directions Beginner:
Use 1 level teaspoon per 150 L (40 gallons) twice a week. Dissolve in at least one cup of freshwater. Check calcium every 2 weeks and adjust dose or frequency accordingly.

Directions Advanced:
Check calcium level, then follow dosing regimen above until calcium is adjusted to 380–420 mg/L. Each dose will raise calcium by about 12 mg/L. Size or frequency of dose can be adjusted, but do not exceed 25 mg/L per day. Thereafter, use as required to maintain calcium.

Directions Expert:
After determining the calcium consumption rate, set up a continuous drip system. Use the following formula to determine how much to add to your top-off water: t=0.002vc (t=teaspoons to add to top off water, v=volume of tank in gallons, c=amount to raise calcium in mg/L). For example, if you want to raise calcium by 25 mg/L in a 50 gallon* tank, then you would add 0.002x50x25=2.5 teaspoons into the top-off water.

HINT:
If used with Reef Calcium™, it is not necessary to exceed 380 mg/L total calcium. Use Reef Status™: Calcium to measure calcium.

Do Not Overdose:
Excess calcium may enhance the loss of carbonate alkalinity. Do not directly mix with any carbonate supplement. Best if calcium & carbonate additives are added on alternate days or at least 30 minutes apart.

Seachem Reef Advantage Magnesium™

Seachem Reef Advantage Magnesium™

Reef Advantage Magnesium™ is a concentrated (80,000 ppm) optimized blend of magnesium, chloride, and sulfate salts designed to restore depleted levels of magnesium with minimal impact to the ionic ratios found in natural sea water. Reef Advantage Magnesium™ contains no
ammonia! This is a common contaminant in every liquid magnesium supplement on the market. Severely depleted levels of magnesium (below 800 mg/L) can cause depressed pH levels and an inability to maintain proper calcium levels. Magnesium depletion is commonly associated with the use of kalkwasser.

Directions Beginner:
Use 1 level teaspoon per 80 L (20 gallons) twice a week. Dissolve in at least one cup of freshwater.

Directions Advanced:
Check magnesium level, then follow dosing regimen above until magnesium is adjusted to 1200–1350 mg/L. Each dose will raise magnesium by about 5 mg/L. Size or frequency of dose can be adjusted, but do not exceed 25 mg/L per day. Thereafter, use as required to maintain magnesium.

Directions Expert:
After determining the magnesium depletion rate, set up a continuous drip system. Use the following formula to determine how much to add to your top-off water: t=0.01vm (t=teaspoons to add to top off water, v=volume of tank in gallons*, m=amount to raise magnesium in mg/L).

For example, if you want to raise magnesium by 10 mg/L in a 50 gallon* tank, then you would add 0.01x50x10=5 teaspoons into the top-off water.

HINT:
Use the Reef Status:™ Magnesium, Carbonate & Borate to check magnesium levels.

Do Not Overdose:
Excess magnesium may enhance the loss of carbonate alkalinity. Do not directly mix with any carbonate supplement. Best if magnesium & carbonate additives are added on alternate days or at least 30 minutes apart. Slight clumping of this product may be encountered but does not impact its use; any clumps will break up very easily.

Seachem Reef Carbonate™

Seachem Reef Carbonate™

Reef Carbonate™ is a concentrated (4,000 meq/L) optimized blend of carbonate and bicarbonate salts designed to restore and maintain alkalinity in the reef aquarium. Calcium and carbonates are essential to all coral growth. If either becomes deficient, coral growth will cease, followed by a rapid decline in coral health. To prevent this you must provide carbonates(Reef Carbonate™) and calcium (Reef Advantage Calcium™ or Reef Complete™).

Used as directed, Reef Carbonate™ will not deplete calcium, magnesium, or strontium which usually tend to precipitate with increasing alkalinity. Reef alkalinity should be maintained at 3–5 meq/L (8–14 dKH). Alkalinity should not be allowed to fall below 2 meq/L.

Directions:
Beginner:

Use 1 capful (5 mL) per 80 L (20 gallons) twice a week. Best if diluted into a cup of freshwater, then added. Check alkalinity every 2 weeks and adjust dose or frequency accordingly.

Advanced
Check alkalinity, then follow dosing regimen above until alkalinity is adjusted to 4–5 meq/L. Each dose will raise alkalinity by about 0.25 meq/L. Size or frequency of dose can be adjusted, but do not exceed 1 meq/L per day. Thereafter, use as required to maintain alkalinity.

Expert:
After determining the alkalinity consumption rate, set up a continuous drip system. Use the following formula to determine how much to add to your top-off water: m=va (m=mL of product to add to top off water, v=volume of tank in gallons, a=amount to raise alkalinity in meq/L). For example, if you want to raise alkalinity by 1 meq/L in a 50 gallon tank, then you would add 50x1=50 mL into the top-off water.

HINT:
Best to pour in gradually near strong water movement. Do not add to a sump or other area of slow water exchange. Use MultiTest:™ Marine pH & Alkalinity to measure total alkalinity or Reef Status™: Magnesium, Carbonate & Borate to measure carbonate alkalinity.

Do Not Overdose
Excess alkalinity may enhance the loss of calcium, magnesium, and strontium. Do not directly mix with any calcium, magnesium, or strontium supplement. Best if calcium & carbonate additives are added on alternate days or at least 30 minutes apart.

Seachem Reef Buffer™

Seachem Reef Buffer™

Reef Buffer™ is intended primarily for use in a reef system where the maintenance of a pH of 8.3 is often difficult. When used as directed Reef Buffer™ will raise the pH of your reef system to 8.3 without fear of accidentally overshooting the pH to a dangerous level. Reef Buffer™ will also raise carbonate alkalinity. Reef Buffer™ is a blended product and is not just sodium carbonate. Reef Builder™ should be used to raise alkalinity when pH is not a problem. Use Seachem’s MultiTest: Marine pH & Alkalinity™ to check pH and total alkalinity.

Directions
Check pH and alkalinity before use. Use 5 g (1 level teaspoon) for every 150 L (40 gallons) to raise pH by about 0.1 pH units (this will also raise alkalinity by about 0.5 meq/L). Dissolve in at least one cup of freshwater, then add to the tank. The pH of natural sea water is 8.25–8.30. In a well established reef system pH adjustment may be necessary biweekly to semiweekly. Dosing requirements will vary, but do not exceed the recommended dose without checking your pH and alkalinity (alkalinity should not exceed 6 meq/L). If an alkalinity of 6 meq/L has been reached and a pH of at least 8.20 has not been attained or substantial cloudiness that does not clear within 15 minutes is encountered, then the system is not ionically balanced. To restore ionic balance perform a water change or adjust the magnesium and calcium levels to approximately 3:1 Mg:Ca (calcium does not need to exceed 400 mg/L).

Do Not Overdose:
Excess alkalinity may enhance the loss of calcium, magnesium, and strontium. Do not directly mix with any calcium, magnesium, or strontium supplement.

Seachem Reef Calcium™

Seachem Reef Calcium™

Reef Calcium™ is a concentrated (50,000 mg/L) bioavailable polygluconate complexed calcium intended to maintain calcium in the reef aquarium without altering pH.

Polygluconate complexation confers several benefits: it increases the bioavailability of the calcium, it provides a rich source of metabolic energy to help maintain peak coral growth, and it prevents calcium precipitation/alkalinity depletion. Polygluconate contains no nitrogen or phosphorous, thus it is biologically impossible for it to lead to algae growth in a properly maintained reef system.

Reef Calcium™ may be used alone to maintain calcium but will provide enhanced levels of coral growth when used in conjunction with an ionic calcium supplement (Reef Complete™, Reef Advantage Calcium™). Reef Calcium™ is intended to maintain calcium levels; if calcium becomes seriously depleted one should either perform a water change or use an ionic calcium supplement to restore the depleted level of calcium.

Directions:
Add 1 capful (5 mL) per 80 L (20 gallons) twice a week. You can increase the amount or frequency based on growth response but do not exceed 3 capfuls per 80 L (20 gallons) per day. Each capful will raise calcium by about 3 mg/L. HINTS: Use the Reef Status™: Calcium test kit to measure calcium. It is not necessary to exceed 380 mg/L total calcium when using this product. Color and clarity may vary between lots.

Seachem Prime™

Seachem Prime™

Prime™ is the complete and concentrated conditioner for both fresh and salt water. Prime™ removes chlorine, chloramine and ammonia. Prime™ converts ammonia into a safe, non-toxic form that is readily removed by the tank’s biofilter. Prime™ may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. Prime™ detoxifies nitrite and nitrate, allowing the biofilter to more efficiently remove them. It will also detoxify any heavy metals found in the tap water at typical concentration levels.Prime™ also promotes the production and regeneration of the natural slime coat. Prime™ is non-acidic and will not impact pH. Prime™ will not overactivate skimmers. Use at start-up and whenever adding or replacing water.

Directions:
Use 1 capful (5 mL) for each 200 L (50 gallons) of new water. For smaller doses, please note each cap thread is approx. 1 mL). This removes approximately 0.8 mg/L ammonia, 1.2 mg/L chloramine, or 3.3 mg/L chlorine. May be added to aquarium directly, but better if added to new water first. If adding directly to aquarium, base dose on aquarium volume. Sulfur odor is normal.

For exceptionally high chloramine concentrations, a double dose may be used safely. To detoxify nitrite in an emergency, up to 5 times normal dose may be used. If temperature is > 30°C (86 °F) and chlorine or ammonia levels are low, use a half dose.

Tropic Marin Lipovit: Code 5132

Tropic Marin Lipovit: Code 5132

Tropic Marin® LIPOVIT means concentrated energy for saltwater fish. A composition of high-grade marine oils provides fish with the very nutrition needed to cope with stressful situations and ward off diseases and parasites. Specifically the omega 3 fatty acids contained in marine oils are vital to saltwater fish. They prevent the dreaded head and lateral line erosion (HLLE) disease. There is no growth or sense of well-being for fish without these polyunsaturated fatty acids.

The composition of oils contained in LIPOVIT allowed the content and selection of vitamins to be specifically adapted to meet the needs of fish. In this way the very dose of vitamins that fish need is supplemented. The added vitamins C and E protect the cells of fish from the damage of free radicals. Panthotenic acid (vitamin B 5) plays a central role in many metabolic processes; it is needed for the immune defence and reduces the mortality rate of young fish. Fish benefit from the natural carotenoids contained in LIPOVIT that fulfil a function similar to vitamins. In addition to enhancing colour, carotenoids also boost the fertility of fish and their readiness to spawn in particular. Successful spawning is directly correlated with the carotenoid content of fish. The garlic oil contained in the product helps the defence mechanism of fish to ward off parasites and it makes their food more attractive.

Last but not least, with Tropic Marin® LIPOVIT fish are better able to make use of the nutrients. And this, in turn, reduces the burden on water caused by nitrate and phosphate.

Tropic Marin Immuvit: Code 5133

Tropic Marin Immuvit: Code 5133

Tropic Marin® IMMUVIT activates the immune defence in fish and supplements food with essential B vitamins. Research studies have shown that the betaglucane contained in yeast naturally activates the immune system of fish and therefore stimulates the resistance of fish to diseases. The water-soluble B complex vitamins contained in yeast and spirulina ideally supplement every food. Vitamin B12 in spirulina arouses the feeding behaviour in fish. Furthermore, spirulina also contains asthaxanthin which improves the colour and fertility of fish.
